His attempt at a Texas accent was unintentionally hilarious. He turned "college" into a four-syllable word.

Tim Riggins was a great character once he shed Jason Street.

I never thought of that, but that's a good way to put it. I like his stuff with Street, but it's in seasons four and five that he really reaches his potential as a character.

Actually, change that slightly to, "Tim Riggins was a great character when he shed Jason Street and Lyla Garrity."

In the first three seasons, his best moments were with the team and his brother. I loved his rivalry and friendship with Smash Williams.

And when I say that I like Riggins' stuff with Street, I'm mostly just saying that I love the New York episode. It was all worth it for that.

It really sucks that nobody tapped McConaughey for the role of Bobby Layne in a movie about the rollicking, hard-drinking, hard-partying Detroit Lions, who had an NFL mini-dynasty in the rockabilly Fifties and early days of B/W teevee. Nobody was ever born to play a role more. Making that movie in the early 2000s (2000-05) while Tiger Stadium was still standing would have been a natural.

Tiger Stadium is gone and McConaughey has aged out of the role, so we'll just have to wonder what might have been.

I read something last year when Saving Mr. Banks came out that made it sound like he was a colossal pain in the ass when he he was "the next big thing" and partying like a maniac but has mellowed considerably over the last several years.

It implied he hit bottom after "Alexander" and "Miami Vice" bombed.

Looks like they are significantly increasing the "meaningful stare" element of the show, which is refreshing because that was severely lacking in season one.

Looking forward to it, but it's got a lot to live up to. I really, really loved the Yellow King story.

Robert Redford was 48 when he played Roy Hobbs (just two years younger than Wilford Brimley, I believe). MM could pull it off.
