Republic of Kundu was the war-torn African nation whose president visited the White House begging for help with AIDs medication on the the West Wing. It's also the country that is the subject of the documents leaked to Neil on the Newsroom.

Yes, I believe it's Equatorial Kundu. That doesn't bother me as much. More of a callback.

Just realized the guy who played Will's cellmate/father was Herc (Street's fellow wheelchair-bound buddy) in Friday Night Lights.

And Devil on Justified, Paul the Priest on Gracepoint and McConaughey's roommate in Dallas Buyers Club.

The series finale was a giant copout. After all the setup for cataclysmic endings, basically they'll all just go back to work.
The post-episode commentary by Sorkin was aggravating, and pretty much confirmed he just got too lazy and undisciplined to carry on the series any longer.

I didn't see the post episode commentary, but I was OK with the ending, in fact it might be the most realistic newsroom experience there is: Do everything you can to get the job done one night, then come back the next day and do it all over again.

I also missed the commentary after the episode. I'll have to catch it at some point. It was a decent final episode, but not great and not on the level with the end of Season 2. There is no question Sorkin's attitude had a huge impact on this season. It all seemed rushed, especially the final episode, and that was because he didn't want to do it any more.

Exactly. Your boss dies? Guess what - the paper/newscast still has to happen the next day.

Loved the scene in the garage with everyone jamming. Saddened that we had to wait until the final episode to see John Gallagher Jr. showing off his chops (unless I'm completely forgetting something).

There was way too much crammed into the final season.

Agreed. Way too much shoved into far too short of a time. That was particularly clear in the final episode.

"Realistic " in today's media environment has to include the company being sold and about 3/4 of the workforce being cut loose.

In fact, over the entire span of "The Newsroom," how many people lost their jobs? I think the Grace Gummer character was it.
