That's Yahoo quoting a piece by Gordon Monson in the Salt Lake City Tribune.

I doubt that. I fully expect this contract to be structured like Saban's where he can do whatever the fuck he wants.

There's a lot of Twitter reporter talk that the Michigan deal isn't done and that Harbaugh has different agents working on different offers. Alex Flanagan says Michigan got nervous enough to increase its offer.

The man himself is supposed to be introduced at a basketball game tomorrow. I imagine it will be quite tense in the athletic offices until then.

Maybe.....but who's a better option? As much as I hate them, I can't imagine a better hire for them. Or, frankly, the B1G.

How long after Harbaugh inks this deal do Saban and Meyer and maybe a couple others get fat raises?

I thought it was Saban or Stoops who had some clause saying they had to be within a certain dollar amount of the highest-paid coach in college football.

I think it's going to be a home run hire, at least from a wins and losses standpoint. There's been a lot of "Harbaugh isn't as good as people think." talk Well, if you think he's the best football coach in sports, and he's being paid like he is, then that might be the case. But recruits are going to flock to him and with the resources he has, it's hard to imagine him failing. Winning in the Big Ten is a lot easier than winning in the SEC.

Harbaugh built a non-scholarship San Diego program from nothing and won back-to-back conference titles.

He took over a Stanford program that was 1-11 the year before he got there and hadn't had a 10-win season in almost 20 years and had it 12-1 by his fourth year.

He took a 49ers team that hadn't been to the playoffs in nine years to three straight NFC title games and a Super Bowl.

How is that "not as good as people think?"

Sure he's a horse's ass to nearly everyone around him, but you can get away with that in college if you win (Saban is just one of dozens of examples).

And as you said, recruits will flock to him ... not just because of the strength of his personality, but because he can walk into a kid's home and tell him, "I just came from the NFL and I can show you how to get there."

People who think Harbaugh won't succeed at Michigan are the same ones who thought Saban wouldn't win big at Alabama ... they're people who are wrong.

While I agree, give the B1G some credit. My contention, for quite a while, has been that the B1G's biggest competitive issue has been poor coaching. The East division now will be the home to Meyer, Harbaugh, Dantonio & Franklin. That's not going to be a cakewalk.

I think the Big 10's biggest issue has been recruiting. The best high school talent is in the south and those kids usually want to stay relatively close to home.

Harbaugh will be able to recruit nationally. I still think the southern kids will stay where they are, but Harbaugh's name will carry huge weight while recruiting because kids want to play for guys who can get them ready for the NFL. That's why even mediocre former NFL coaches were good recruiters. Mike Sherman comes to mind, he signed some great classes when at A&M. I know he signed Manziel and I'm pretty sure he signed Jake Matthews and Luke Joeckel. I'm not sure about Mike Evans.

Harbaugh will steal a few kids from California and from a QB standpoint, it will probably be like it was for Spurrier at Florida where top QB prospects were coming to him. Rex Grossman wasn't even on Florida's radar and they sought Spurrier out. How often does a Heisman runner-up fall into your lap?

This is bad news for Notre Dame and Stanford. Michigan is going to start getting a lot of the prep and private school kids in the Mid-Atlantic those programs had been pulling.
