That's a d-b! Morris had that link on the previous page. Good article though.

This year's deal is $5 million base with a $2 million signing bonus and there is a clause in there saying they will re-visit compensation after the first season. I think Michigan was getting backlash for offering someone that much money and is doing this to save some face.

They're not getting any backlash from anybody, except for some chronic pants-pissers who wail that it's just awful that any football coach gets paid more than $50,000 a year.

Those people tend to surface at some point at non SEC schools. "Are you telling me, Jim Harbaugh deserves to be paid 60 times what a Psych professor makes?"

    "Yes, I am."

There's probably some Profs still in Anne Arbor who broke Harbaugh's balls in class.
Now he can just wave his big fat contract at them and smile.
Anyone who did not think that he would be returning to Michigan once the job opened
    was misguided.

Does he have a QB at Michigan? Honest question, not a shot a CK.

Well, Shane Morris, the kid who got dinged in the head vs. Minnesota, was a 3/4-star recruit coming out of HS, redshirt soph Speight was supposed to be decent, and they have an early-registering freshman, Malzone, who's supposed to be a pro-style pocket passer prospect .

If nothing else Harbaugh is supposed to be a QB-developing wizard, so my guess is he can coach at least one of those guys up to 'adequate' level, to fill the gap until he reels in a 5-star stud.

And of course the fan boards are buzzing with speculation U-M might go after a 5th-year senior-grad transfer a-la Russell Wilson, although nobody really seems to know who that guy might be. (Except for one name which would be the bombshell transfer of all time.)

It would now make perfect sense for Braxton Miller to transfer to Michigan and the Harbaugh QB finishing school
to boost his NFL ranking. He has his undergraduate degree so he would be eligible.
