A hot name last year was Panthers DC Sean McDermott. Heard nothing about him this year. Guess the interviews didn't go well. As a Bears fan, I'm much more worried about Zimmer than Caldwell moving forward.

Bevell would be the perfect pick in Chicago or San Francisco. I think the only job I've seen him mentioned for is Buffalo.

Zimmer was a great hire by the Vikings. I never understood why it took him so long to get his first HC chance. Teams just seem to prefer the younger guys, which is stupid.

Wow. The fact that Shanahan even took that interview shows how desperate he is to get back into coaching.

Overall this list of available candidates outside of Rex is just not that inspiring this year.

Like Pep Hamiliton but feel like he needs some more experience. Has no HC experience.

He'll never have HC experience....until he does.

True but I guess as a long suffering Jet fan I'd like to see him get that experience somewhere else first.
Perhaps a college HC job . When you look at his resume he has moved up the ladder real fast.

Prior HC experience seems almost worthless as a success indicator. Among the coaches in their first top jobs anywhere are Tomlin, McCarthy, John Harbaugh, Payton, Pagano and Arians.

Although every guy you listed inherited or acquired almost immediately a pretty damn good quarterback.

And a longer broader body of work as NFL assistant than Hamilton

Pep Hamilton had more experience as a NFL assistant than Tomlin did.
