I saw Foxcatcher this afternoon. It was slow and little long (2:14) for me. I rarely like biopics because they're usually so, so far from the truth, and this was no exception.

The real Mark Schultz is more than a little annoyed with the way he was portrayed. Can't say that I blame him.

Noticed that The Godfather was on Cinemax last night so I set up and recorded the showing on Cinemax West. It was followed by The Godfather II, so I also recorded that. Watched the first and enjoyed it, but somehow expected more. Will have to set aside some time for II in the next month or so once I'm done with a work project.

Speaking of ScarJo...watched Under the Skin last night; interesting but rather slow movie. She speaks about 4 times. And she's completely nude several times...and about 3 months preggers, according to the tabs at the time she he's nekkid. Creepy movie akin to The Man who Fell to Earth.

I really liked 'Under the Skin.'
The pacing in the first 30 minutes threw me off. I went from expecting to like it to beginning to dislike it, and by the end I was completely transfixed.
    Very good.

I watched Under the Skin over break while testing out my new tablet. That was not my cup of tea, but there were some striking visuals. I didn't find the plot the least bit plausible. (POTENTIAL SPOILERS) An advanced alien civilization can travel to Earth, take the form of humans, but they don't know the purpose of eating or what a vagina's for? I get it, it's an art film. Whatever.

Saw Annie with the wife the other night. Not too bad. I wasn't too familiar with the play version or the previous movies. It's one of my wife's favorite plays and she liked this version pretty well.

He also calls the director a genius in some other interview.

    It's a terrific film.

The minute you agree for that thing to become a movie, you're subjecting to an artist's interpretation. It's like bitching about Andy Warhol's soup cans not because it lacks statement, but because some of the cans are obviously the wrong color.

Unbroken, by comparison, is a spectacularly boring picture from an artistic perspective because it goes for stricter fidelity. (The book, I should add, is also boring, as are the book and movie versions of Seabiscuit.)

She was good, as was some of the commentary about the "porn" in all of our lives.

That said, the September-May relationship in the movie's final half doesn't work for me.

Check Schultz's Twitter feed. He seems to have changed his mind about Bennett.

It's not a good movie at all and the Coen Brothers played their part, but it mostly falls on Jolie. The only movies she should be directing are sports movies. She seems like a rather nice person overall, somebody it'd be nice to have tea with or something, but not an interesting filmmaker.
