Maybe I'm naive in this instance, but I have a very hard time believing that an NFL official would even HAVE a Facebook account (or any social media account for that matter). A good friend of mine is a stockbroker/financial adviser, and just the compliance costs (paying someone to monitor his posts to ensure the powers-that-be that he's not doing anything untoward re: disclosures) are steep enough to keep him off. I'd have to think there are even more stink-eyes focused on NFL officials.

 

The only thing the Dallas defense does really well is create turnovers. The Packers do not turn the ball over.

I'm not good at predictions, but my thinking is the Cowboys defense won't be able to get off the field by taking the ball away, leaving it out there to be picked apart by Rodgers, who hasn't thrown an interception at home all season. Brandon Carr is going to have to cover Randall Cobb or, more likely, Jordy Nelson. That's a mismatch of epic proportions.

Also, Murray is showing the effects of all those touches -- he's averaging 78.5 yards per game and 3.4 yards per carry in his last four games.

I think the Packers score at least 40 -- they average almost 40 per game at home -- and win handily.

 

A couple years ago, I made a couple fairly innocuous FB posts regarding the infamous healthcare plan. And I mean really innocuous -- compared to a lot of the political stuff I've posted on forums designed for that purpose, they were complete cotton candy: "Gee, I think (The Infamous Healthcare Plan) may really help me in a couple years." I didn't rage that anyone who opposed it was a moron, selfish asshole, etc etc etc (however much I might have been tempted).

Within two or three days I got shoulder-tapped at work that some of the higher-up honchos weren't too happy with "some of the things I'd posted online."

I found out that among the duties of the "social media specialists" the paper had hired lately was to skim the FB and Twitter accounts of employees and report political posts at variance with the paper's editorial stances to management. The entire newsroom staff had been wondering exactly what these people were doing to fill up 40 hours of payroll time, since their actual content generation appeared to be something on the level of 20 hours or so; now we knew.

Anyway I went and quickly quickly scrubbed all such references off my page. And I don't work for the National Football League.

To which your response should have been, "Oh, I wasn't aware that there was a policy on posting on political things on social media. Why don't you create a written policy so that way everyone knows they should not post anything political on social media, that way, we won't be able to potentially offend anyone from any and all political persuasions."

Puts their shoulder taps back on them. If they don't want to be seen as political fascists, then make a policy that affects everyone.

 

That Rodgers home INT thing is pretty crazy. He hasn't thrown one at home since Dec. 2, 2012. (Missed a lot of time last year.)

In the same span he has thrown 12 on the road.

 

This presumes they gave a shit about any of this. They didn't.

My concern with the Packers is can Rodgers drop back. He couldn't against the Lions. He still did pretty damn well though.

The Packers tend to struggle against teams who can control the clock. McCarthy has never been accused of being a good clock manager, even though the team should be more than able to since Lacy is a pretty damn good back.

I hope the Packers kill the Cowboys, but I have my doubts.
