I don't understand your point. Do you think it's a bad hire? Most people who understand football seem to think it's a good hire.

I think it cold be a good hire under the right circumstances, but such a thing doesn't exist at Redskins Park. Can one guy who ONLY needs to stay sober change that?

 

Oh yeah. That's a huge one. I suppose there's a lesser one in that is he a good GM or is he just a really really really good scout ... but the drinky drink is a major deal. I figure this is his last chance and he knows it, though.

 

Oh, I agree this hire comes with a huge caveat. No doubt about it. Beggars can't be choosers, though.

 

I can guarantee you that anyone who thinks they can solve a drinking problem by "not drinking the hard stuff" is wrong 100 percent of the time. But given that his struggles are common knowledge, perhaps some help/motivation is written into his contract.

Is the Cowboys success this season due to Jones letting having a checks and balances deal in place that prevents him from doing things like drafting Manziel?

 

If Jerry had drafted Manziel, I think every one of his football people would have quit on the spot. Except maybe his son, Garrett.
