Given this new information, I'd be surprised if Manning chose to retire before giving it one more shot. He did not retire after a much more serious injury.

35 and 39 are different worlds. Manning didn't quite look like Dan Marino throwing that lollipop in the 62-7 loss to Jacksonville, but he didn't look like someone with a lot of upside either.

Earlier this year, piggybacking on Brady's comment, Manning said he would play until he sucked. That might be here sooner than anyone thought.

Jets have been cursed since '70. There is also the Curse of A.J. Duhe.

He only was with them for one season and only played four games for them.

Did you read my follow-up or are you just doing the Baron thing again?

Wondering if there's a bit of an over-reaction on Manning, as is wont to happen this time of year under the playoff microscope.

Here's the numbers you're trying to replace if you think you can do better:

    395 completions - 597 attempts, 66%
    4,727 yards
    39 TDs, 15 Ints

Good luck getting that from Osweiler or most of the current NFL starting QB group.

In terms of comparing this year with others in his career, his Yds per Attempt were better than all his other seasons except the last 2 in Denver and 2004 - 2005. His Yds per Catch were topped only by 2013 and 2004-2006.

Is age catching up to him? No doubt. SI he LA Namath or San Diego Unitas? Not even close.

Are the Broncos better off without him? I would say no.

One other thought for him to consider: if he does come back for one more year, he'll pass Favre for the most passing yards in NFL history, to go along with the most career TD passes record. Don't know if that matters to him or not, but certainly imagine he would pride himself on that accomplishment.

Oh, I'm sure he could play another year at average or above average (though fading fast). I just don't know if that appeals to him.

The records matter to Manning. I think he can also get the wins record next season and that's the most important one to him.

I think next season is his final season.

Seconded. Hated the call and the outcome. Feel badly for fans of the Cowboys to see there team lose like that.

With that said, also hate when teams throw the 4th down fade. When you're putting your season on the line for what's a 50/50 ball, you're sympathy factor gets reduced.

That wasn't a fade. That was a bomb.
