Right. I was rooting like hell for the Packers, but I hate calls like that. It's such a bullshit rule and it was bullshit when it happened to Calvin Johnson. He's supposed to go that high up in the air to catch it, land and have the ball not move? I know that's the rule, but it's fucking ridiculous.

The rule is specifically about going to the ground while attempting to catch a pass. Has nothing to do with anything like the ground causing a fumble. He jumped, he landed and immediately started falling to the ground. He hits the ground, the ball hits the ground while in his hand and immediately moves to the point it pops up into the air, after which he clutches it with two hand. But it had already hit the ground.

The only way to argue it was a catch is to say that everything was finished before he fell to the ground. The rule specifically says that's not enough.

If he really wanted to remain active, he probably could be a backup for three or four more seasons. It's not like there's a plethora of backup quarterbacks out there.

Although I'd imagine that wouldn't be too appealing.

Manning loses, then alibis. Shocker. Biggest post-season choker in league history.

I thought there were stories out there that Hawking was into kinky hooker stuff? I am not looking this up at work.

More hard hitting analysis from Goalmouth.

No, we aren't. It is very clear he was falling down. That he may have attempted to lunge as he was falling does not change that. It is absolutely fair to disagree with the rule, but as the rule is currently written, that was clearly an incomplete pass.

  9. What's their cap situation?
And who do you bring in? Is there going to be a QB - a Super Bowl winning - QB available? Denver has a good running game, but not the kind of game that's running to the Super Bowl without a passing QB. That REALLY limits your options.

  10. They did the same thing earlier in the game. Before the half If I recall, which led to the missed FG.

I agree 4th and 2 is rarely a running play. But with that line and Murray? ... I may take my chances...

Yeah, I can't blame Romo for taking the shot downfield - twice! instead of Murray - but damn ... what are the chances of that succeeding as opposed to a Murray run for 2 yards?

Nothing I said isn't true. Manning is the best regular-season QB in NFL history.

As a Packers fan, I've never been a big Cris Carter fan, but I do enjoy him on Mike & Mike every week. Today, Carter explained why he thought it was no catch: Thought Bryant only had one step, not three, after finally securing it and didn't control it going to the ground; ball hit the ground and moved, therefore no catch.

But the most interesting part of his take on it was that HE LOVES THE RULE. He thinks the rule takes away all ambiguity when it comes to completing a catch. He said he had catches taken away from him in his career due to the rule but believed them to be the correct calls.

I'm not saying that justifies anything, and I'm glad Green Bay won, but amid a large majority of people calling the rule idiotic today, a former wide receiver who caught a lot of NFL passes thinks the rule shouldn't be changed.
