Exactly what "decent" QB should the Broncos get? Get Orton to unretire? Trade Manning to Houston for Fitzpatrick? Without a name, that recommendation is meaningless. Wouldn't it be better to wait and see how Manning is next spring and THEN look for the JAG you'll start if he can't go?

I don't think Denver is making the choice. It's his call.

Fox had to go. He was serviceable, good even. Not great. And you need to be great to get the shiny silver trophy. He never won a "big" game, a game the Broncos were predicted to lose and actually won. Two home playoff losses coming off a bye were grounds for termination before he left the stadium last night. Taking a knee in the Baltimore playoff fiasco. Not preparing for crowd noise in the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl film of him on the sideline last February made him look out of touch.

Hell, the fact he was sniffing around other jobs -- Chicago, most likely -- during the bye week while Gase and Del Rio were interviewing elsewhere were red flags. The Glazer report Sunday morning -- win or lose -- was a gots-to-go situation.

And no way in holy hell is Shanahan -- restaurant in town or not -- coming back. Not. Going. To. Happen.

His coaching in the Super Bowl with the Panthers was also questionable what with his early two-point tries. But he did win a playoff game with Tim Tebow at the helm. Counts for something.

It doesn't matter on the "who" for Denver for a decent QB.

If Manning is there, no decent-to-good QB will have any interest in the Broncos.

Denver isn't the Raiders or Jags. The team has a reputation as a very well-run organization (and I HATE the Broncos and it pains me to admit this). That rep will always attract top performers. Denver runs a first-class show.

    That's how they get a decent-to-good QB.

The sooner Denver cuts Manning loose, the sooner they'll find a new long term solution.

Fox always struck me, watching him on the sidelines, as a caricature -- the PE teacher running out the clock to his government pension who also coached the football team.

Win 12 games three years in a row. Go to a Super Bowl. And the head coach "had to go."

Amazing. I hope Denver wins 3 games next year.

Manning was a sure thing in the playoffs until Fox got ahold of him.

A high profile GM, the highest profile GM in fact, wanted a different coaching staff. I have to think Elway had someone in mind long before Fox departed.

I agree, but who? Maybe they love Adam Gase or Jack Del Rio so much that they can't bear the thought of them going elsewhere. Kubiak makes sense, but will excite nobody.

But from what I read the entire coaching staff was released . If they wanted to keep Gase or Del Rio why take the chance at releasing them?

I don't think GM's or owners should care if it excites anybody as long as they get the guy they believe to be the best for the job.

Theses threads are a lot like the drat threads, we have no clue how these guys interview.
