If he's that good, he shouldn't have to worry about sitting the bench.

I bet Kobe, Garnett, Howard etc. were fools too. I know that basketball is different in that it's easier to project, but still far from exact. Would you say that Kwame Brown made a mistake coming out? Jamarcus Russel? Vince Young? You go pro when you have the best chance of maximizing your draft value. Forecasting this is more art than science, but there's no automatic answer in an unusual case like this one.

Aw God, I remember that! I didn't know it was him though.

Everybody you mentioned was a high first-round pick who made millions guaranteed.

Jones looks like he'll get about $200K bonus and a non-guaranteed roster spot.

I had the same reaction this morning.

    "That was him??!!"

Maybe that's his maximum. For sure it's his maximum if he's carrying the clipboard next year.

Shouldn't he find out first? Would you be shocked if there was a GM willing to take a shot?

But he doesn't get to know that. He has to declare in a week or two. He can't go back if it doesn't work out.

Wouldn't he have a better chance at maximizing his draft value by returning to school, winning the job, and playing that way for an entire season, maybe winning another title? If he's as good as some think he is, this should be an easy decision.

Isn't the deadline in a few days?

The problem is that even if he's the best pro quarterback prospect among the three, he won't necessarily be the best college quarterback out of the three and win the job.
