Doubt we'll see it again but Brady could clearly see there was no one rushing over that spot and knew exactly how much time
he had to get rid of the ball. Certainly was not designed from him to hold ball more than 2 seconds.

A cautionary tale for NFL receivers when you're near the end zone and the game's on the line: Don't try to score. You never know what might happen.

Honest question...do you watch NFL Football? And if so, have you not seen this exact call made numerous times every week? This isn't something new.

Yes, you might not complete the catch.

The game was still on the line after that call, and the Packers did go from their 33 to the Dallas 28 before taking a knee three times. So I think the evidence is pretty strong that they could have and would have gone down the field, considering they actually did.

As I noted above, the Packers actually did go down the field after the call -- from the GB 33 to the Dallas 28 -- before taking a knee three times. Depending on whether Dallas made or missed the 2-point conversion, a field goal either wins or ties for the Packers.

Pretty big difference between the two, no?

LOL ... it's kinda like throwing out a runner at home plate. It's easy to do unless it's for the final out in the World Series, which is why you send the runner ... :p

Not to mention that drive never happens if Dallas scores. Green Bay gets the ball but we don't know what happens on the drive. Maybe a fumble or pick, or even a punt. Everything is different.

It's another awful byproduct of if-then.

In one case, they had to move the ball and did. In the other case, they would have had to move the ball and ...

Just another thought on the no-catch: Clearly, the ball hits the turf and then pops up into the air, at which point Bryant grabs it. Would the Hokie Pokies of the world say it was a catch if after the bobble it fell to the ground? To say it was a catch as it was, you'd also have to say it was a catch if the ball fell to the ground, because the ball clearly hit the turf and then came loose. Everything after that doesn't matter, including him re-gaining possession of the ball.
