It is interesting which guys haven't gotten a second chance, or at least ones who had some level of success.

Hell, even Dick Jauron got a second chance.

You can't lump Fox in with th the other two.

Now, it's being reported that Mike Shanahan may be brought on to Tomsula's staff either as the OC or a "special assistant"

I don't know if Fox will work out in Chicago, but he went to the Super Bowl with both his previous teams. He also made a 1-15 team competitive in his first season as a HC and won a playoff game with Tim Tebow. He's far from the unsuccessful retread you mentioned.

Deal is reportedly done with Bears, so it'll be interesting to see who the coordinators will be. Early reports are K. Shanahan and Dennis Allen.

This would be hilarious. And based on what's happening out here in reaction, it's a total panic move by the 49ers after they were floored by how badly all of this is going over.

It's basically the same thing as the Yorks running Mariucci out of town and letting Terry Donahue hire his buddy Erickson, except it's worse.

You could do a lot worse with coordinators.

    Is Shanahan worse than Erickson?

I'm referring to making Tomsula the head lackey.

I'd be happy with three proven guys. I know Kyle gets a bad rap, but what he got out of RG3 III and Brian Hoyer looks pretty good in hindsight. And Allen is the guy who ran the defense that made all those Tebow comebacks possible. Building an experienced staff is new ground for the Bears.
