Little Shanny is a good coach. Whether he's head coaching material yet, who knows, but as an OC, you could do far, far, far worse.

I agree. I think he gets a bad rap because of who his dad is, like he's the first person in coaching to benefit from nepotism.

Tomasula makes Lynch sound conversational in comparison. He sounds like he was making a hostage tape.

This is going to go down hill fast. The guy sounds like Cliff Clavin.
I can't wait to see his first Coors Lite commercial 10 years down the road.

The Coors Lite add will debut in 2017. :D

I really like Fox, but I'm just not sure whether he'll have success in Chicago. And what the hell is the deal with Marrone? Guy walks away from a HC gig, and has barely gotten an interview. He must have thought he was in line for the Jets or one of the other gigs, right?

Well, I think he must've realized the new GM in Buffalo would bring his own guy in eventually and didn't want to spend a year as a lame duck. He had that $4 million to walk clause and took it. I think he thought he was getting the Jets job. If he doesn't get a HC job this year, he may have overplayed his hand, but I think he'll be a HC somewhere in 2016.

As far as Fox is concerned, I don't think he's the answer to all of Chicago's problems, but he's better than Trestman and he seems like a better option than the ho hum group of assistants making the rounds this year.

For Marrone it will only be a bad move if he does not get a head job by next year. For this year he will in effect be paid 4 mil to do nothing.

I do think he thought that he was going to get the Jet job. I think The Jets thought that also until the NY Jet beat guys started to
poison the water. Woody then started to have second thoughts and visions of "Fire Marrone " billboards on Rt 46.

I think he would have been a better hire than Bowles. What is it with the Jets and defensive coaches?

I do too but neither one had the wow factor that The Jets needed to excite their disgruntled fans. Quinn would have
been that guy but it's likely that he turned them down.

At the end of the day they would have been better off with Ryan and a GM who understood player evaluation. Tannenbaum
and Idzik were basically accountants and not football guys.

Totally agree. He's a very good coach. But I'm just not sure what he can do with that team. If I were a Bears fan, I'd be pretty happy. I would guess Marrone thought the Jets job was his ... maybe he'll end up replacing Philbin in Miami. And I'm eager to see where Chudzinski ends up. I think he's an excellent coach as well.
