This time last year I was reading about Manziel going No. 1 overall.

True. But if the Eagles trade up to get Mariota, they are going to have to be sure they get up high enough. I can't see him dropping past 4 or 5.

We'll see in a couple or three months.

Yep. But comparing Mariota to Manziel is tough. Manziel was not an NFL-type QB as far as size/arm strength/etc. I would be surprised if Mariota falls too far.

We can try Matt Barkley or a million others if you like. I'm just saying draft stock is still in the very early stages of being decided right now.

better bet? Neither will be a 1st team QB in the NFL in 4 years or 1 will be a Pro Bowl Selection by the 4th year

Considering there are years where more than 10 QBs are at least selected to the Pro Bowl, that's probably the safer bet.

Hell, Vince Young made the Pro Bowl.

I meant selected as in not replacing a guy who doesnt want to go

I don't think either guy is going to be a franchise QB, but I don't think they'll be busts either.

I can't really see a scenario where Winston will be a long-term solution. It's hard for me to imagine that a guy as seemingly entitled who has never faced consequences will suddenly emerge as a leader in the NFL. I think Mariota is more likely to put the work in to develop as a franchise QB. But I would probably bet against both of them. I would say Mariota plays 5-6 years and Winston is out of the league in less than 3.

Keep in mind how bad you have to be to be completely out of the league in less than three as a first-round pick. I think JaMarcus Russell even got three seasons. Cade McNown is the only first-round QB I can think of who didn't play a third season, but I think he was on rosters for two more years, at least for training camp.
