You could put Kershaw on the worst rotation in the majors and the top three would be among the best on average, to be fair.

Grienke & Ryu can match up with just about any 2-3. Who's better?

The Dodgers' No. 2, Greinke, is also better than anybody the Rangers have and Ryu is a very solid No. 3.

Need to consider the interest rates they negotiated.

Take the money up front and set yourself up.

An athlete with money in his pocket is almost never a good idea.

Fair enough, but in general I think it's best to get the money up front.

Maybe the many people around here who are far more savvier about baseball can explain to me how the Nats can go from "Strasburg is our franchise foundation" to "he's yours for the taking" in such a short period. It's been, what, just a year since they torpedoed their playoff chances by shutting him down to protect him for the future.

I think they're realizing his shelf life.

Strasburg is 26 and from southern California, which means he's part of the first wave of the explosion of travel ball. (He played on a team with Mike Leake. How would you like to go up against that when you're 12?) He and the other guys around him are going to end up serving as a cautionary tale. I think we're not far off from the point where part of scouting/drafting due diligence is to research the number of innings pitchers have been throwing since age 10.

With 2 years of team control left, Strasburg is available only if someone completely blows them away. Like really blows them away. Now, depending on how he pitches this year and how next offseason goes with Zimmermann, Fister, etc, there's a chance he could be moved a year from now. Still very doubtful tho. Barely worth discussing really.

Except somebody cited stories reporting that he really is available. (I forget who that was.)
