I think that's true of any player at any position in any sport, which is why I've never been a fan of the sabermetrics-is-everything approach. Stats have their place, but there is always context, and the eye test is also important.

That's especially true in football, which, if not the ultimate team game, is in the top two. Everyone's stats are significantly affected by what someone else does or doesn't do. and it's even more true with a quarterback, whose intangibles really do matter.

He won. $4 million and he doesn't get fired once the Bills don't make the playoffs next year.

As an offensive line coach with the Jaguars, he'll have all year to burn his $100 bills while he looks for the ideal job -- not just what is available.

Ravens hire Trestman. Seems an odd fit.

The week after the season ended who would have thought that Marrone and Gase would both be without head coaching gigs.

That's really strange. Team that prides itself on grinding hires coach who won't stick with the running game even when his team is dominating.

Also possible that he might never get another head job in the NFL. Certainly possible that he could get another college job though.

Many are blaming Menesh Meta for Marrone not getting the Jet job.

I wonder if GMs/owners resent the apparent fast-one he pulled in invoking the clause in his contract to not just get out, but get a big check in doing it?

Marrone has the "assistant head coach" title that former head coaches usually get so they can take a non-coordinator job and save some face.

Weis is in the mix for the Chicago OC job. That would be an intriguing hire.

What is the consensus on Weis's performance as OC for the Chiefs?

I think it was more his bland personality and mediocre body of work. Especially for The Jets.
The fan base did not want someone that screamed 8 and 8.

People hated him less than they hated Todd Haley. But that isn't saying much.
