The Equalizer. It's ludicrous on every level.

Saw Exodus: Gods and Kings tonight. It was entertaining enough, the special effects were tremendous however it strayed far from the biblical story, BUT at least there were no transformers in this one.

A little late to the party, but I just watched "Mud" and really enjoyed it. The director created a gorgeous ambience that felt like it captured being a 14-year-old in the South (says the 36-year-old New Englander). The theme of the bonds of fatherhood - by blood or not - being stronger than the bonds of the love of a woman was well done, though it's disappointing that every woman in the film is unworthy of the love given by the men.

Nonetheless, it well written and directed. The slow pacing worked well and the end was really pretty perfect. After seeing a couple of shitty movies last week, this was a welcome surprise.

You mean we are not treated to the entirety of the man?

    I just saw Selma yesterday.

It's a powerful reminder of how far we've come and how far we haven't.

Had a bit of a Blazing Saddles quality to it. Mel Brooks would be panned in today's world also.

I just mean, whether you believe in God or not, if you're going to do a well known bible story, why drastically change the story? And I mean for beyond stylistic reasoning. Noah was a dumpster fire of a movie (again, transformers? Are you freaking kidding me? And since when was Noah a murderous psychopath? About the only thing that stayed true to the story is there was a guy named Noah who built an arc). Exodus stayed much closer to the actual story but there were still major changes made to the story and the plot. Just frustrating is all.

I saw a screening of Blackhat a little over a week ago and man, was it bad. I wanted to like it, but it was just a dumbed-down, predictable revenge movie when it was supposed to be this intelligent cyber-thriller. And, as noted above, it is very slow-moving.

It looks intriguing, but the January release date for a Chris Hemsworth movie had me spooked to begin with. Figured this was a January dump for the studio.

The first time I saw the trailer for Blackhat, I thought it was an SNL skit.

Looked ridiculous from the trailers: tough-guy beefcake hacker?

That's selling it short. It was like MacFarlane was trying to remake it. Loved Blazing Saddles. Million Ways was among the worst movies I've ever seen.
