Obviously it's very early in the process, but HRC is ahead of Jeb Bush by double digits in the most recent polling.

They might as well just call the thing now.

Agree on this. Part of me thinks Republicans got smart in 2014 and started looking at the general election instead of Conservative Purity (whatever bullshit that is). The lessons of losing winnable Senate seats in DE, NV, ND, MO and IN will hurt Republicans more after 2016 once they lose Toomey in PA and Johnson in WI.

FWIW (probably not much) ... we have acquaintances who are hardcore Republicans. Yes, those exist even in California! We saw them a couple of days ago and they were railing against the community college plan and the changes to the tax status of the 529. They are the rare people who actually earn enough that hating Obama makes sense.

The guy is fairly high up in tech, and a few months ago he went to a conference where Hillary was the guest speaker. He came out of it and said immediately, "She's going to be president."

That does seem to go with what has been said/written about her. She is a lot more polished this time and not likely to miss the warning signs of an emerging electoral threat.

I think most people feel that way. I don't know that she's going to win, but either some other candidate is going to have really come out strong, and strike a chord with people in a way that no republican has in quite some time. I think Paul is the most capable of doing that and he may be completely demolished by his own party during the primaries.

It will be interesting to see what happens if Hillary has the nomination wrapped up by February-March and there's an interesting race between the republicans that might draw some interest. I think that helped the democrats in 2008, but let's be honest, they were going to come out on top in that one eventually.

I just wonder if Hillary can play the prevent and simply not fuck up. She also can't look tired or run down or frustrated because then her age could be an issue. That would be a first, republicans going after a democrat for being too old. :D

Yeah, all the Democrats have to do, that is if they have the guts, is to say, "we've already had two Bushes fuck up the country, now you want a THIRD?"

    Rinse, repeat.

What's Old Tony think? He was pretty spot on last time if I remember correctly.

The GF makes a spicy Italian sausage soup with potatoes and kale and it is freaking delicious.

I've also eaten organic kale salads twice this week. The mix included rainbow chard and baby spinach. It was also good.

    I am the liberal elite!

Has W's image really sullied HW that much? I was pretty sure HW left office with a high approval rating.

Main stream 'merica is not ready for the condescending O'Malley.
If she runs I hope she chooses him as running mate.

With you on Kale salads. wildly healthy and tasty.

HW wasn't great, but he wasn't awful. His son, on the other hand, was the latter, and memories of his son are a lot more recent than that of the dad. Combine them together, and see what happens.

Jr's record will hold up better than Obama's down the road.
