The reason they're giving is UNC-Wake is a rivalry going way back and they wanted to play each other more often. But it ought to be a conference game when they play.

They're doing it intentionally because they want to play each other. I imagine Chapel Hill has plenty of fans in the Triad who want to see the Heels.

True. It's a big gate too when UNC makes the trip to Winston. Wake struggles to fill a pretty small stadium by FBS standards.

I certainly agree with that. They would still get three nonconference games.

I think the ACC will do away with the divisions and go to three permanent partners before those Wake-UNC games are played.

I can hear the crying already about the Chapel Hill Mafia and unfair advantages when UNC ends up with permanent partners in Duke, State and Wake.

I think you're overestimating how much people are concerned with UNC football.

As long as UVA and UNC are in the ACC, they're playing every year. So that greases the skids for Chapel Hill even more.

A little update. The hot topic in CUSA (still AKA as Colleges and Universities Spread Aimlessly) is who, if anyone, will replace UAB. Blazers are not going to be allowed to stay in without football, so that leaves a spot open. ULL and Ark. State are in the mix, but so is JMU. And they may wait a year and just go with 13 schools in the short term to get the right fit (their words, not mine).
