What a shock: Hollywood pushing back at "The Sniper"

It's really not that hard to separate appreciation of soldiers' valor with criticism of a war. Your generalization, like most generalizations, falls short of truth. I've yet to see a partisan standing ovation when a veteran appears on a baseball field to surprise their kid.

 

I don't recall many Nam movies humanizing the VC, NVA or even the South Vietnamese.

Were you in the bathroom for the scenes that involved children and the family that tried to help the U.S. forces? Those Iraqis seemed pretty human and those scenes pretty humanizing.

 

Perhaps there were other prejudices in play?

Thanks MC, I have yet to watch that one. And I didn't say never, none. I said not many. I was thinking mainly Platoon and Full Metal Jacket, although there might have been scenes even in those that made you think briefly about the other side. I recall in FMJ, the dying sniper, and the delay in finishing her off. Maybe that moment qualifies.
