And they are also paid handsomely for their service.

Surely you don't really need an answer to this. Maybe it's because they are putting their lives on the line for our country?

    In Iraq they were?

The morality of a war is not reflective in the morality of an individual warfighter. They're mostly moral people, with a different set of morals than you. To imply otherwise implies the individual warfighter has control over why we're fighting in the first place, or the tactics we use as a whole. I.E., one drone pilot doesn't get to decide whether drone warfare is moral - it is being used regardless.

The comparison to taco makers is just ridiculous and beneath you.

Of course I don't think that. I'm addressing the statement that the soldiers are "just doing a job."

They aren't "just doing a job."

Sure they are. Not that I'm trying to diminish what they are doing, but in almost all cases they are simply following orders and doing what they are trained to do.

In my experience, "just doing a job" gets beaten out of you pretty quickly.

    Not literally, of course.

    It's a pretty all-encompassing lifestyle.

Good point. All I'm saying is that in most cases these soldiers are there because it's their job, not because they want to be.

As I clarified, Tony, I wasn't making that comparison. I was using it to illustrate that soldiering is not "just a job."
