Can't believe I haven't been on this thread. I once tried a Time Traveler Shandy. Strawberry flavored. It was awesome.

I was all kinds of pumped to try Hopslam. Two problems, though. 1, I can never find it. 2, It's $20 per sixer.

Yeah depending on your location be prepared to not find it or take it hard without lube.

Here in Bell's homeland, it's generally a bitch to find other than at the raping stores (though still can find it at some of the larger local grocery chains at a more reasonable price). The two biggest shops in the area each got about 50 cases, limited it to one or two sixers per person, and both sold out in less than two hours the day of the release (14.99 and 13.99 IIRC, one reason they're popular spots is they don't gouge their customers even on special/limited releases). That's just crazy. It's one of my faves, but I'm not going out chasing trucks in hopes of getting some. Mrs. Fly was able to get a couple sixers (15.99 and 16.99), so we're happy with that.

That said, there are loads of great IPAs/DIPAs on the market nowadays that just lack the hype of brews like Hopslam. Seems like many places have excellent local stuff that's much more readily accessible. Don't get me wrong, love that Hopslam! But it's not worth running all over hell's half acre and paying through the nose to get. It's just beer.

Laid out 16.99 for mine. Had to make a quick trip north of the state line. Good sized liquor / party store, said they got 5 cases for the year. They all sold out the first day, with the exception of two sixers.....both still there when I walked in last Friday.

Reporting back: Midas Touch is vile with an off-putting vegetal taste that was like canned corn.
Elevated was quite good but wasn't great. I'm not sure why it enjoys such a fantastic reputation.

I was not a craft beer guy quite yet when I ran into a keg of HopSlam at a bar in Vassar, Mich. in the winter of 200? (06 or 07 maybe?)
Seven 16-oz pints later I was flashing my junk to my buddy's wife (so I was told later) and passed out in his daughter's bed.
There may not be a worse hangover than waking up to sunlight streaming through pink curtains and starting at My Little Pony and Cinderella stickers on the wall while your head is pounding like a drummer from a Norwegian black metal band.

Midas was DFH's first attempt at "historical" beers and yeah, it's different. Not sure how they are able to pump it out as a yearly. But I guess people like it enough.

The co-worker who gave it to me says it's his favorite beer.

    I am not a fan.

Two-day meeting in San Marcos last week included a brewery tour and dinner at Stone.

I really enjoyed it, but I got the bad news: Sublimely Self-Righteous, Stone's black IPA and my favorite Stone product, is being discontinued.

Whoa!!! What? Damnit. I love that beer. Guess I know what I'm buying all of next time.

Had a Hopslam Sunday. It's delicious, and a freaking delicacy at $12 a pint. It might be a touch overrated, though, just because of the cult following. Would drink Pliny the Elder all day over Hopslam.
