Not sure how the paper is now. I used to do stringing work for AVP when California District 51 Big League would go to the Softball World Series. Made $800 off them one year writing two stories a day. Hard to tell what the current state of the paper is now.

    Description:
    SPORTS EDITOR

The Antelope Valley Press is looking for a leader who has (at least) a couple of years of supervisory experience and demonstrated accomplishment. Your mission would be to take five talented sports reporters and make them better and bigger than the sum of their parts. The Antelope Valley Press Sports Section, in recent years, has garnered Top 10 Awards from Associated Press Sports Editors in our circulation categories. We seek an experienced hand who is detail-oriented, creative, and who will inspire performance. We are in a growing area of Southern California with 60-minute drives to outdoor and Los Angeles area attractions, good benefits and compensation negotiated to experience and accomplishments. This is a senior, supervisory position. Read our requirements and if you match, contact personnel@avpress.com with resume and work samples attached.

I wonder how much money they're offering for this "senior, supervisory position."

So has this position been filled, or is it open?

Would the pay be enough to live in southern California? Or support a family?

  12. Thanks for the link, Ryan.
