Hassan Whiteside is the best big man. Did he mean today in a very literal sense?

That's Bogut next to the Manute Bol bobblehead. (Fans get a 10-inch version.)

All of a sudden Blatt is qualified to coach in the NBA again.

    Kyrie: 55 (11 3's) and 5 assists.

Cavs win 8th straight, Blatt just might make it to the second year.

The Hawks go 17-0 in January, and the NBA decides to name everyone in their starting five as Eastern Conference co-Players of the Month. I'd feel slighted if I was one of the key bench players. Even worse, not all 17 games were started by the same five guys.

I thought the Hawks thing was pretty dumb (acknowledging these awards aren't exactly the most important things in the world). But it's still not as ridiculous as Garnett winning Player of the Month in February 2003, even though Kobe became first player in 40 years to average more than 40 per game for an entire month. Yes, I've carried a grudge about a Player of the Month award for 12 years.

Curry goes for 51 tonight as Warriors rally from 22 down to beat Mavs. Second GSW guard to go for 50-plus in a couple weeks.

This thread was buried and I have not been following so I don't know if this has been discussed. Has anyone been watching Giannis develop for the Bucks? I assume that most wouldn't see him much as he is playing in Milwaukee but at the risk of seeming like a Homer, this kid could be something really special. Close to 7' and still growing, outstanding run/jump ability, amazing length and great court vision. He handles like a guard and can defend 2-5 spots. Only time will tell and I don't know if he has the drive that makes the great ones continue to get better year after year but he seems to me to be a triple double waiting to happen and I see no reason to doubt that he could be one of the best in the game. I have a hard time thinking of comparable players from the past. Any thoughts?

I've been watching closely, and the ease with which he dunks in traffic is amazing. He just won East player of the week, then came up a rebound and two assists short of a triple double -- only because he didn't play at all in the fourth quarter. He can go over a defender or around a defender. And his outside shot is improving. All this, and he likes to pass just as much, if not more, than shoot.

I remember reading in SI last year in January that if the draft was to be redone at that point he would have gone No. 1. The Bucks got him at 15. The Bucks really got this one right.
