Went to see American Sniper on Sunday. What a heavy and powerful film. Clint Eastwood is at his directorial best. Bradley Cooper transforms himself into Chris Kyle. It's easy to see why Cooper got an Oscar nomination.

  3. John Wick ... a solid meh. I was hoping for a good shoot 'em up. Wick was little slow in delivering the action. Loved the gunfights.
The ending, some it did not make sense... (SPOILERS) .. I read yesterday Wick 2 is in the works.

The Rover .. GOD awful Aussie flick with Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson. Pearce has his car stolen (in a post-government collapse world) and is trying to get it back. Pattinson plays the wounded, half-wit brother of one of the men who stole the car. This is a slow moving story that sucks the life out of the room.

    Wick ...
The female assassin leaving Wick to go get executed by management? How is it even plausible she would do this? Under what possible circumstances would she live?
And why did Wick stab himself in the final fight scene with the Russian? For fuck sake he beat the hell out what 2 dozen guys in hand-to-hand combat, but to kill a middle-aged gangster in a one-on-one even street fight he has to stab himself to get to the guy?

Saw Big Hero 6 the other day and really enjoyed it. It's a half-notch below How to Train Your Dragon 2 for Best Animated Feature. It also has a fun cameo during the end credits that any superhero fan would enjoy.

Probably got dinner and a movie on the agenda for Saturday, but there's not much out that I'd like to see.
'American Sniper' the likely candidate but seems like an odd choice for V Day.

Jupiter Ascending. It was League of Extraordinary Gentlemen bad. And this from a guy who rarely dislikes a movie.

    Watched Fury on PPV.

Excellent, old-school war movie. Could have easily been made in 1962. And I mean that as a complement. Logan Lerman is going to be a big star.

Fifty shades with Mrs. Novelist. It's a compilation of Twilight, a Thomas Crown Affair, Beauty and the Beast and 9 1/2 Weeks with more nudity. I thought the dialogue was stilted, but, you know, I guess you don't go see that movie for dialogue.
