What's the science that so definitively shows raising the minimum wage would cost jobs that it can be compared to the Theory of Evolution?

    Wait.

Is it in question -- at all, like at all -- among economists that raising the federal minimum wage would cost jobs?

I'm sorry, you said there was some science behind this. Thought you'd care to share it.

Betsey Stevenson, chief economist in the labor department from 2010-2011 writes:

So, yeah, I guess it is somewhat in question.

Seriously? Are you not aware of the science?

This would be like me asking Dick to share some evidence proving evolution.

This is settled science. Do you not believe it?

The science re: the minimum wage is as settled as such science can be. I know this may surprise many of you, but the social sciences are ... What's the word? ... different from the physical sciences.

I think you're aiming that one at YF above all.

So, like, maybe we shouldn't compare the social sciences to physical sciences? Totally agree, DQ. Let's move on.

Could be ... But being dismissive of evidence from the social sciences because it doesn't conform to your worldview is mouth-breather territory, too.

And, just as a by the way ... scientists are beginning to wonder whether the Big Bang actually happened.

I haven't dismissed any evidence. I asked YF to provide some.

By show of hands, how many of you on the stage believe that raising the capital gains tax would help the middle class and the working poor.
