The Deadspin video of Carlos' tweets was awesome and very NSFW. Not posting the link, but it was called a "wall of porn". The trumpet background music was great. Not sure if that was Herb Alpert. ???

Long story short, be careful what you do on social media. There are consequences.... But be careful also not to be the Troll or part of the shaming. You may get caught in the wake.

That's a really good story. I feel horrible for Justin Sacco. The joke she was trying to make - basically making fun of the way we think of ourselves - is very close to my own sense of humor that it's a little chilling to read about.

People are fucking mean.

I heard twitter described as a 140 character resignation letter, waiting to happen.

 

Yeah, that's what the Times Magazine piece talks about, how the world reveled in the fact that she was unaware of the firestorm she had created, and that her life was about to come crashing down. I'm more outraged by the mob mentality than I am by Justin Sacco's Tweet.

And I really feel bad for the Arlington sign girl.

 

This is one of the reasons I'm not on Twitter. The downside isn't worth the upside.

 

The main thing I took away from this is there are a lot of careless people out there with zero common sense. A Boston bombing victim costume for Halloween? In Boston? You nuts?

 

The main thing that I get out of it is that people just really aren't that funny. The AIDs chick tries way too hard with her airport observations.

I read my kids' twitter feed. Agonizing, self-indulgent crap.
