What? If he's drafted first or second, he won't end up like JaMarcus? Yet fourth-round money is too much for him to handle?

Is anyone of significance calling either one a lock to be a starting NFL QB ?
Is there a surer thing? A OT who will be around for 10 years as a starter. a pss rusher, a lock down corner?
If you are drafting high you have needs that go beyond QB and if neither one is a stunner then go somewhere else.

Maybe its looks and demeaner but Marriota reminds me of Testeverde

I think if you need to draft a quarterback, and you're in position to take Winston or Mariotta, then you take one. There's not much talent on the board for next year at that position, and there's not much available to trade for unless you want to give the Bears a draft pick for Jayne Quitler, which is probably not a great idea with the size of his contract and depleting skill level. As immature as Winston is, I would take him No. 1. Tampa is a market he could go get lost in. He could not go to the Jets. That would be dangerously fatal.

It's not insignificant, but Roethlisberger is probably still the best comparison of any active NFL QB to Winston.

It's the same way Mariota is being compared to Kaepernick. It's not to say they're going to be better or worse or whatever than those players, they're just the most similar to those players.

But he's white. You can't comapare black QB's to white ones.

Perhaps looks but not the same arm.

If Mariota somehow winds up in Philly, he will be set up to succeed. That doesn't mean he will, but he'll walk into an offense that will be perfectly suited to his talents. That doesn't happen too often. Winston would have a much tougher task in Tampa, but I think he would be in a pretty decent situation all things considered, especially with Koetter there as an OC.

I don't think either would be a good fit with the Jets, although it would be so much fun to have Jameis dealing with the NY media.
