Not because of this 30-points-in-4-minute, but Rathan-Mays will thrive in the NBA. Really nice shot.

    Nowhere to be found:

Also: Tom Crean is getting fired, right?

If he's going to even get a shot in the NBA, it's now completely because of his effort last night.

Every bracketology deal I have seen has Indiana safely in the field of 68 -- barring a collapse, why would he be getting fired?

Because that's not enough at this point. He had the most talented team in the country two years ago and they got their ass handed to them by Syracuse in the sweet 16. Were never in the game.

Missed the tournament last year. Flailing down the stretch this year.

That's just not enough. Not at Indiana.

Don't they owe him a pretty nice sum of money still?

My gut is if he makes the NCAA Tournament, he will survive

Where it gets interesting is if they don't make the tournament. I know they're safe now, but let's say they lose all three they have left - not inconceivable. I think you'd have a pretty good case to buy him out. His program has peaked.

I agree - I don't even think it is a question, if they don't make it he is fired.

Who would be Indiana's top target(s) to replace him? Tony Bennett turned IU down last time around, right? Larry Krystkowiak would be a good one. Would Brad Stevens go back to college at this point?

There could be a rush of new coaches at the blue blood programs in the next five years. Krzyzewski isn't really showing any signs of slowing down, but he's nearing 70. Roy Williams looks like death these days and I'm pretty sure his family would like to see him retire, but I think he wants to have one more great season. Calipari probably won't look to go unless he's getting out ahead of the NCAA investigators, but that's always a possibility. Self wouldn't leave for many jobs, but as a Kansas alum the thought of Pop retiring from the Spurs worries me a bit. Alford needs to do better if he's going to last at UCLA for the long haul.

I would assume Brad Stevens would be high on their list.

Roy Williams is not likely to have another great season. He just seems to be a tired old coach. I think it is close to closing time for him.
UCLA will be firing Alford in about two years because he is not a high-level coach.
Calipari will be in the NBA within three years, if not sooner.
    Not sure about Self

Brad Stevens would leave the Celtics mid-game if it meant he could have the Indiana job.

    You think?

I'd have a tough time leaving a cornerstone NBA franchise to go back and coach minor league basketball again if I didn't have to.
