It's interesting how many NFL writers and pundits reveal through their work they'd be the most dreadful bosses imaginable. Are they drawn to the sport by its authoritarian structure?

Work: Something you do and get compensated for.

Who is paying Winston to be at the NFL draft? Who is he on the clock for? Nobody, yet.

If that's the kind of #HotTake Reid was ready to bring, maybe Snyder was right to block his show from the airwaves.

Maybe this gets Snyder to trade away the next 5 drafts to get up to 1 and take Winston.

What a fucking absurd take. Guy's been working for this for most of his life, and he wants to enjoy it with family and friends? So fucking what? He's not the first or the last. Let him handle it the way he wants to. It's the biggest moment of his life so far.

Maybe he'll be like first ever first pick Jay Berwanger was in 1936 and announce he's returning to Florida State to pursue his pre-med and medical school degree.

My theory on Winston not showing up is that he doesn't want to be asked over and over again about his past indiscretions.

I think it's a mistake, but it's his mistake to make. He certainly doesn't owe anyone anything by showing up. Usually when a top 5 pick like Joe Thomas or AJ Hawk doesn't show up, people talk about how refreshing it is that they didn't feel the need to go to NY.

So why is it a mistake?

He has answered plenty of questions about his indiscretions. He has talked to teams, the commissioner and visited the team likely to pick him. What the hell is wrong with wanting to spend the big moment with his family and friends. Can't imagine they won't have a camera there. Might actually be more interesting than seeing him sitting in studio BS-ing with the ESPN guys.
