    1) Yes, I already knew that all of the female posters were adults. Adult enough to not nitpick the phrase "guys and girls" when it is used colloquially.

    2) I agree that this site could use some women with good judgment as a moderators.

    3) It wouldn't have had any impact on this. It's not like we convened over cigars in the secret man cave, the way I suspect you imagine it, and came to our loutish male-centric decision. Jeff got an e-mail from a family member and he worked with them to remove some personal stuff that had been posted over the years that they didn't want lingering on the Internet. You are making a lot of assumptions -- about it having been some sort of group discussion among the insensitive man clique (with all of the baseless assumptions you have added to your narrative about her and her motivations for contacting him), about what Jeff actually did (at least from what he told us), about his actual interaction with her (which I am assuming you weren't a part of) and about how "kind" he (and the moderators who had ZERO to do with it) are toward a family member who is dealing with the loss of a relative.

    4) Jeff did not force the family member to do anything. Jesus. From what he told us, it was the opposite. I'd share details about the little I actually know, that I am certain you don't (not that it stopped you from creating an assumption-filled narrative and going into chastise mode) -- except that the whole idea in the first place was that we weren't blasting something private all over the board to feed the lame PM gossip mill on here. ... you know, out of the respect and decency that you have decided Jeff (and me and the moderators, who had zero to do with it) inherently lack.

Jeff himself said it was a group decision involving him AND the moderators.

    That's not an assumption.

Dial it back, man. Amy didn't deserve a response with this kind of tone.

A complete asshole response from Ragu. You should be removed from your moderator position because of your attitude.

    Three things:

    1) The vast majority of the posts the family had to flag could and should have been scrubbed from the site before they had a chance to stumble upon them.
    2) Someone should have had the sensitivity to assist them when they showed up distraught and desperate to have the posts removed.
    3) Ragu, that post was extremely condescending, even for you.

Come on, Amy...everyone knows that message-board moderating requires a special talent that the girls just don't have. You ask too much. What next, women in the locker room??

But if they do ever add a broad to the masthead, I hope it's you. A fitting legacy of the great guy who led you here in the first place.

Not going to get into the Boom issue. You have a new ownership that doesn't understand--or doesn't want to understand--the constituency. SJ didn't last all these years because it was a warm clever place to chat with nice people about TV shows. It's lasted more than 15 years because it did what good journalism does: It challenged us to think about what we were going to write, knowing a pack of jackals was about to tear our asses to shreds. Made us show up and face those who would have gladly reached through the internet punched us in the face. As said here many times: How you gonna do it in an angry locker room if you can't do it on an anonymous message board?

That's all I got. My crew has moved on over the last couple years, and so have I. The departure of Boom is your loss. Great people here, great memories, great times. Love and blessings to you all.

If you can show that the jackals were motivated by journalistic reasons and not personal reasons, then you might be on to something there.

Does anyone want to dust off the media guide and look up why posters had trouble deleting their own posts in the first place?

See, Boom was a prick because he prepared you for the real world. He was the Great Santini. There would be no you if not for him. You would still be at the Podunk Press covering little girl softball. You can't handle the truth! You need people like him on this message board wall!
