I expected more "Where is TruTV on my TV?" questions on Tuesday with Ole Miss playing.
Ran a box on our sports front saying it might not be available on all systems, to take time to scout it out before tipoff, and also mentioned the channel number for the primary cable provider in our largest market.
    Got one call.

We got one yesterday, an old woman swearing the games have never been on TruTv before and asking what the DirectTV number for it was. I'd put it in the paper, but considering there's cable and at least three or four satellite options available we'd probably run out of space listing it for every channel.

I've never taken a TruTV call but that doesn't mean we haven't had them. The best was when Versus was rebranded NBC Sports Network, and a lot of people called to complain the sporting event we had listed wasn't on NBC. One time someone called in adamant that there was no such channel as ESPNU.

Caller: You wrote the wrong year of Podunk High's last state title in today's paper. The team won it last year, but you wrote that it was two years ago.
SE: No it didn't. I was there. The team lost in the championship game.

Caller calls back an hour later..."oh, I guess you were right."

This is the fourth season on TruTV. And let's just be glad it's not still Court Tv. Though that might make more sense. :)

Dear dimwit softball pa announcer with picture of one team's lineup on your phone: Do you really think I can read that? I guess you couldn't either, since I don't think I heard a complete name the whole game.

    Dear Sled-dog racing fan,
I appreciate your interest in the Iditarod, but we had practically no room in today's paper and, well, there's this college basketball tournament going on...

Tell you what, if anyone from my alma mater coaches a team to a win in the NCAA Tournament today, I will mention that in tomorrow's paper

According to a reader who called in today...because we didn't post a NCAA Women's bracket AND we didn't put in anything about the ACC Tournament, THAT'S why our paper is "going downhill".
Did I mention we are smack in the middle of Big Ten country?

Is that all? Our email writer told us that we're inviolation of Title IX and breaking the law for not giving equal coverage to the women's team. I guess this is my last post, as a tear gas canister just broke through ... Cough cough ... My wind...cough gag...window and this g...hack cough yech...guy in black fatigues is about to hit m

A guy called in once wanting to talk about a preseason football game that didn't even involve teams in our division and when I tried to get him off the phone he proclaimed that was the reason why newspapers were losing money.

Every now and then we get some angry caller who is upset we don't give the same amount of coverage to the WNBA that we do for other sports. Still waiting for someone to cry that it's gender discrimination Candace Parker isn't making the same salary as LeBron James.
