Thanks for the reminder of what nonsense 538 is in sports, or really in all things that aren't about elections with substantial historical polling data.

Arizona's 1997 run was sort of shocking, too, considering what choking dogs they were in the 1990s.
From 1990-96 they lost in the first round three times -- twice as a No. 2 or 3 seed -- and in the round of 32 once as a 2-seed. They did make a Final Four in 1994, but there was a nice stretch there where picking them as an early-round upset victim was some of the easiest money in the tournament. The '97 title run more or less put an end to that.
Kansas was the same way during that period, although it seemed like they usually made it to the second weekend before shitting the bed.

Don't know if this was posted over the weekend and I missed it, but Wisconsin's Nigel Hayes had an incredibly odd answer to the first question of his press conference.

“Before I answer that question, I would like to say a few words: cattywampus, onomatopoeia and antidisestablishmentarianism,” Hayes said, according to the stenographer, who spelled the words correctly. “Now, back to your question.”

When asked about his unexpected words, Hayes explained his fascination with the stenographer’s job. “She does an amazing job of typing words, sometimes if words are not in her dictionary, maybe if I say soliloquy right now, she may have to work a little bit harder to type that word,” Hayes said, “or quandary, zephyr, Xylophone, things like that, that make her job really interesting.”

On Saturday night, Hayes tweeted a “job-well-done” to the stenographer.

He and some teammates even went over to check out the steno doing her work.

I don't think it's incredibly odd, it's just kinda funny. He knew they would type everything he said word-for-word and was messing with them.

Equally offensive is her spelling of "yamaka," showing that Thuggy Bear doesn't care about education in his work or family life.

Like, we're supposed to give two shits about the hillbilly litter of some developmentally-retarded gym teacher.

At most tournaments there seems to be a team that is about a thousand times more likeable than the others. I get the sense that this year, Wisconsin is that team.

Hey coach, how many classes have your Student-Athletes missed this basketball season?
Would you say that your Student-Athletes spend more time in practices, workouts and games than in the classroom?
