I think a turning point, too, would be when existing supplies started to run out and societies started manufacturing their own. Then you get the return of cities and some sort of economy built up as people trade and, as you said, band together to destroy the bands of brigands.

Some level of manufacturing really should have been present already, especially with ammunition. Ammo is a precious commodity that would almost certainly be in short supply to scavengers, but can be made to some degree by people with a little know-how. Somehow, in TWD world, despite them firing off dozens of rounds per episode, it's never a major issue.

There certainly would be small crop farming and raising of livestock. We've seen a lot of the former but almost none of the latter.
Trapping and eating people is the least efficient strategy for long-term success. Occasional cannibalism might be necessary, but its a terrible long-term solution.

The brigands would be a real problem, but over time that should settle. Forming communities is already a proven strategy for human success.
But communities could end up in direct competition, which could lead to conflict.

Ok, we're coming up on the season finale, which, interestingly, is called "Conquer". Predictions on which main character dies? Story-line predictions? Wishes?

Scott Gimple, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, and "a surprise TWD cast member" are on the Talking Dead, so I assume the surprise cast member is the one who dies. Tara has gotta be 50/50. Maybe Sasha? Father Gabriel? Certainly someone (or a few someones) from Alexandria.

They have to unveil what the W on the walker's is all about in the finale, though I think it'll be towards the end (side note: on The Talking Dead, one of the guests said that maybe it's an upside-down M for Morgan. I think Morgan makes an appearance, but I don't think the W is related to him). I know on the other thread they talk about what it means in the comic book, but I won't cross-thread it here.

Nicholas is going to use Rick's gun on someone, or he's going to try to but it's going to get botched and he'll die.

They've gotta bring Daryl back to town from his little adventure, but not before something big happens out there. He's going to encounter something other than walkers. Otherwise, what was the point of all that?

Rick is going to get booted, but then he'll do something that'll make people want him to stay. Revenge someone's death or something.

Any good rumors about what's going to happen?

Dude is barely on the show anymore. Wouldn't bother me if he were to go.

I kind of assume it will be Daryl and Aaron who figure out the "W" mystery. Awesome episode. They did a good job of making Rick's course of action not quite White Hat Cowboy and a little more muddled. I think it's the right thing to do, but his motives aren't pure and everyone sees it.

    Looking forward to next week.

They tried that already. Despite a stunning lack of medical equipment and a chest wound from a high caliber rifle bullet in the middle of nowhere, he got better.
    Dude might be a Highlander.

Damn, I don't even remember Carl getting shot. Darryl, yes, by Andrea.

The doctor AND the wife. And maybe their nosy kid.

That'd be something, if Carol actually did in Sam, the cookie-grubbing kid.

I'm thinking Nicholas is going to wind up killing one of Rick's crew.

So why would you put a W (or upside-down M) on a zombie's forhead and then let it go? Maybe it was done to live people before they became zombies?

My guess was going to be that Carl's flame was doing it to them with the knife that belonged to her mom, who was probably named Wendy or something, but the scene with the woman bound to the tree made me rethink that.

Could it be people who are exiled from Alexandria? They carve the W in their heads so they are always identifiable and then send them off?
