Musselman should do well at Nevada, he's coached everywhere (including Reno in the CBA), I'd be surprised if he doesn't make Nevada competitive quickly. Thought he was a decent NBA coach, and now he'll get to supply his own roster. You check his winning percentages and he seemed to always do better than what he should have done.
    Mark Price to Charlotte.

If it is true they are waiting until April 1st to save $250,000 then it is utterly ridiculous. This is Texas - $250K is not even a drop in the bucket and frankly, they could probably make about five or six phone calls and raise it if they are really that concerned about it. It is really silly for that amount (when I read the article, I thought maybe his buyout went down $1.5 million or something substantial).

What this tells me, though, if it is true they are going to do something on April 1st - they are going to make a run at someone still playing this weekend and so they aren't feeling the pressure to open it up just yet.....

So let's look at realistic candidates from the Sweet 16:

Pitino, Williams, Coach K, Izzo, Kruger, Ryan, Huggins, Miller - forget it, it ain't happening and they know it.
Calipari - He will be in the NBA next year, I firmly believe it, especially if they win it all, so cross him off too

    That's nine...

I don't think they'd want Alford or Gottfried, so that's 11... So let's look at the other five:

Marshall - They'd be dumb not to try
Few - They'd be dumb not to try
Brey - Might as well at least call
Mack - Doesn't strike me as big enough name or coach for this kind of job
Krstykowiak - Intriguing given his NBA background, but not enough success yet for this job

So do you think Texas is gearing up for a run at Marshall or Few?

The sound you hear is the ADs of every major program firing their coach... Oh, wait no... It's just crickets...

Assuming he's sober, someone like an Arkansas-Little Rock might hire him.

I would think Texas could get or at least would have a shot at Marshall. I could see Smart possibly being interested.

Steve Alford says, "Why should I cross him off the list?"

Not everyone is Alford, in more ways than one.
