That's interesting about Michonne and Tyreese. Given the way the show has gone and the characters they've developed, I can't imagine Michonne and Tyreese together, nor can I imagine the killing of Tyreese having the emotional impact that decaptitating Herschel had.

And, yeah, as spoiler-phobic as I am (I'm probably among the worst here), I'd say that's fair game in regard to the source material. I'm assuming Tyreese won't be back to hit it with Michonne. :D

I'm not a regular reader. Picked the first few issues. Read issue No. 100, which NOBODY should talk about on this thread. I'm guessing they will recreate the most important scene, if not the exact characters. I poke around on the Walking Dead Wiki sometimes when I get curious, too. Given how drastically they have changed some storylines, it doesn't spoil the show as much as you'd think.

My understanding is that Herschel's role was much larger on the show than it was in the comic. If I remember correctly, the plan was to kill him off sooner in the show, but they changed their minds because they loved the actor and what he did with the role.

On the other hand, Tyreese had a more prominent role in the comics, including the relationship with Michonne. People were very excited to see him finally on the show, but I don't think they did as much with him as they could have.

I'm happy to say I was wrong about the finale.
    Good episode.

Great season finale. And I'm glad they didn't kill off any major characters, like a lot of folks feared would happen.

One question, though, that I haven't seen covered: Who was the guy in the red poncho and why did he have pics of Rick and the group? Not sure if I missed something earlier in the episode, because I almost fell asleep at one point, but I don't remember seeing him till the end.

I think it's only natural to tweak the characters and roles in an adaptation - Daryl, after all, doesn't even exist in the comic version of TWD.

But I think some of the changes are also a result of having different showrunners at times. Frank Darabont was the one who created the TV adaptation and his vision was pretty faithful with some of his own ideas thrown in. His vision was different than that of Glenn Mazzarra, who really, really strayed from the comics in Season 2 and 3. And now Scott Gimple, who has run Season 4 and 5, seems to adhere to the happy medium philosophy. He does some big scenes almost panel for panel from the comics (someone on another site pointed out how even certain shots of the Rick/Pete fight matched comic panels, as did Rick's facial bandages). But he also remixes characters (Deanna is a man named Douglas in the comics) and storylines (Terminus was shorter and featured more nomadic characters in the comics), and even introduces new people and settings (Noah and the hospital arc).

I think the last two seasons have seen the show hit its stride after a great start and a bumpy Season 3. I can't wait for what's in store. I know some of the big plot points from the comics, and I'm really curious to see how they address them in the show.

    Yeah, you missed something.

Daryl & Aaron were following Red Poncho Guy to see if he was worth bringing in to Alexandria. They lost track of him, ended up at the food factory where they had their big scenes with the walkers. In the process, Aaron dropped his backpack that had the photos. It wasn't Red Poncho Guy who looked at the photos - he met his fate at the end of the show - but the Wolves who Morgan met at the beginning of the episode.

I thought Aaron dropped his backpack and that's where they came from. They were same ones he showed Rick and Co.

Guy in the Red Poncho was no one in particular.

So how do you rig a trap so that all the doors open at once with no electricity and no visibile wires that a dude like Daryl would notice?

Also, I really liked Rod Poncho Guy from what we saw of him.

Funny you ask that because, as Daryl and Aaron walked down between the trailers heading to the loading dock, there appeared to be cans strung up and hanging by wires from the corners of the truck and I thought it was going to be a trap. The only really logical explanation for him missing them was that he was blinded by the prospect of a massive food cache.

Also, they apparently do have electricity, as evidenced by the rave they hosted to lure the walkers back into the trailers.

Red Poncho Guy was a good dude. Lots of laughs, that one.

(I liked how Hardwick said on Talking Dead that they guy may as well have had a Federation logo emblazoned on the poncho.)
