I've said this before, but I don't think any program in the country as is wildly overrated as Texas.

The basketball program or the whole athletic department?

Given everything they have they have definitely underachieved in football and men's basketball.

The entire program. There's this perception out there that Texas has all the money, all the facilities and all their own TV network.

Even with all that they still underachieve. In all sports. Consistently.

So who does Bama go after now? Barnes is out and it sounds like Marshall is staying. And Shaka seems like he'll go to Texas if he leaves.

Do they make another run at Prohm?

Prohm and Richard Pitino are two of the names listed in the AL.com story.

I think a big part of Texas' problem as an athletic department is they had a lot of coaches, and maybe even an AD, who had been there a long time and were too comfortable in their positions. Sometimes everybody needs a change of pace. Now they have young, hungry coaches in football and basketball, and I wouldn't be surprised if we can say the same about baseball relatively soon.

The columnist for the Oregon paper SKEWERED the Texas AD today. Something about how he ruined the Blazers or something.

Well, at least if they hire Pitino they can say they got a big-name coach.

If Bama gets turned down by too many people Jerod Haase is going to walk into his office one day and find a note reading "Basketball at UAB has been discontinued. Report for your new position in Tuscaloosa immediately."

The difference is making safe picks for coaches. They need a great coach. I think Smart would qualify.

Texas should be a consistent national contender in any sport it cares enough to try at.
