Har, that's very funny. It takes a full week just to print all the paper you have to sign.

    I stand corrected. NOW it's a party.

We're not talking about a dominant group of people who have nonsensically decided that a minority group of people whose sexuality is different are bad people, and therefore try to ostracize them. For example, refusing to do business with them.

We're not talking about any of that.

We're talking about nudists. Or a rich old man and a gold digging bride. Or my lust to tar and feather people.

This isn't about a majority group of people being shitty toward a minority group of people -- what would be an actual productive conversation that might potentially make the world a little better place. It's about how we need to make sure that shitty people aren't "forced" to participate in any activity. Because that's the important principle here!

You're not disagreeing with the argument I am making.

Firstly, in many instances being gay is not a protected class.

The question is whether they should be protected against this kind of discrimination. By law. Even if we disagree with those who would chose to discriminate in this way.

And, if we can make homosexuals a protected class, then we can make anyone a protected class. Why shouldn't nudists be a protected class? Why shouldn't swingers be a protected class.

They certainly face discrimination. And, when they are, then hicks in Indiana who own a pizza place can be forced to cater a swinger party.

    That sounds reasonable.

No one is saying the government should FORCE anyone to serve The Gays.

What people are saying is those who refuse to do so should not be exempt from standard anti-discrimination laws based solely on their religious beliefs.

I've got paperwork to catch up on and I'd rather spend my time doing that as opposed to participating in some homo wedding.

Do I get to make this decision? It's a question of how I want to spend my time.

Now, if I was equally behind in paperwork, and Jay-Z and Beyonce wanted me to cater a party, maybe that would be worth it to me, because it sounds fabulous.

Again, if these people were smart enough to just say, "I'm booked that weekend," instead of "I don't like dem kweers," we wouldn't need a law.

Political beliefs are a more legitimate reason to discriminate.

Protected classes are created for people who are discriminated against because of how they are born. They are protected because they cannot change who they are.

    With one notable exception. Religion.

I think your two statements are in conflict.

The government is not forcing you to be a caterer.
