The TV thread

I had really high hopes for the show until Kristin Schaal showed up.
Wasn't familiar with any of her previous work, but she's been very, very annoying since she appeared on the screen in this show. She's so annoying that Will Forte being an asshole to her doesn't offend me as much as it should.

She was on The Daily Show and 30 Rock. She also does the voices for what seems to be about half the shows my kids watch.

She also did what might be the worst comedy special I've ever seen and since I try to watch just about every comedy special out there, that's saying something.

She'll never do anything else as good as Flight of the Conchords. That was the perfect role for her.

I still kinda enjoy Last Man on Earth, but I had higher hopes it would be as clever and funny as Clone High and it's not even close.

She was the band's lone fan, or the "fan base" as their manager called her. She was hilariously nuts and used just the right amount.

It's so odd and bizarre that I still really enjoy it. Like, I have no clue where it's going, which I like. Any other show would have had January Jones reciprocate his feelings, or take an easy way out when it comes to getting rid of Schaal. I think a lot of people probably assumed the show was just going to be wish fulfillment and hijinks, whereas Forte is a weird dude and seemingly wants to probe all of the odd things that the mass extinction / disappearance of people would cause. Like pools full of poop, and three of the four people (so far) left on Earth being really annoying.

It looks like season one is 13 episodes, and who knows how it'll end? Ratings are strong enough for a season two, but depending on how they end it, it could also be a one-and-done series. Even if there is a season two, it seems like a boutique, short run show, and not a typical sitcom where they'll try to churn out 23 of them in a year.

I think the idea has (or had) a ton of potential. But they betrayed the title fairly quickly. And now that four have "survived," it would make sense to believe there are
likely hundreds -- even thousands -- more out there. It's a big country, a big continent and a big world. I mean, shirt, even a dumb cow survived.

I actually think the idea has more potential as an hour-long drama headed up by a top actor rather than a slapstick comedy headed up by quite possibly the worst actor to ever head up a network show.
