Man, that was a bad column.
Jered Weaver topped out at 84 mph yesterday.

"But it was Scherzer who gave up the four pitch, two-out walk to Curtis Granderson in the top of the sixth, and then following Desmond’s error on a pop fly by David Wright that should have been second baseman Dan Uggla’s ball, served up the pitch that Lucas Duda drove into right center field — the first hit allowed by Scherzer — that scored Granderson and Wright and put New York on top, 3-1."

    Is this English?

They didn't pay the guy $210 million to allow a hit here and there. Isn't that obvious?

Loverro is a hot-taker who was calling for Bryce Harper to be sent to the minors last year.

Is it true the pressbox at Nationals Park is ridiculously far from the field?

Only if you're fat and flunked out of Richard Simmons school.

It's pretty high up, as opposed to usual location between the lower and upper levels, but it's not ridiculously far:

The Braves' TV guys are always complaining about it, which is my only context.

But yeah, from the looks of that photo, it's not like it's Neyland Stadium or something.

Angels Stadium moved many of the reporters way down the right field line a couple years back.

TV and radio and some writers are still behind the plate, but the rest are in the hinterlands, far from the clubhouses, which makes for a nice postgame hike, I've heard.
