I would guess that more than 50 percent of college sex involves alcohol.

'Great' discussion here -- among people who shouldn't be allowed to move about freely, much less make social commentary.

Much better to use flat-out unsubstantiated numbers followed by vague estimates.

By the way, let's accept your "vast vast majority" nonsense, and then let's discuss how much more likely a drunk guy is to rape someone than a sober guy. Not surprisingly, you don't mention that.

And, the link I provided may have some faults, which it admits to: Alcohol’s contribution to sexual assault cannot be discussed without also describing the general characteristics of sexual assault; thus, this article alternates between providing information about sexual assault in general and contrasting this information with findings regarding alcohol-involved sexual assaults.

How about this: UHS Tang Center.

Alcohol impairs inhibitions, judgment and decision-making. Mixing alcohol and sex puts you at risk for sexual assault, sexually transmitted infections, or simply being in an embarrassing and awkward situation in the morning.

Sounds like a pretty great date-rape drug.

Alcohol use by women makes them more vulnerable to sexual assault. While men, when drinking, are also at increased risk of being sexually victimized, they are also more likely to engage in coercive sexual behaviors - including sexual assault.

And, let's also be sure to mention the completely unsubstantiated claim that most rape accusers are just dumb women who regret something they did when they're drunk.

I don't think I've ever disagreed with any of that.

However, a person cannot control how much another person drinks.

Can that person control where he puts his dick regardless of how much someone else drinks? If he can't, maybe that person should control how much HE drinks, not ask everyone else to do it.

    Also, Creosote:

According to current adjudication and the studies that have led to the numbers you quote, that last bolded part is not a distinction. There isn't regrettable sex, there is only sex with a drunk person, which by those definitions is assault.

If awkward sex was illegal, we'd all be in prison.

    That would be ideal.

But that really is not the most efficient preventive measure.

Sorry, but no. The CDC questionnaire draws a clear distinction of being "unable to consent." That does not mean even a drop of alcohol counts.

And, there is no data on how many rape accusations are driven by regret. There IS data that states pretty clearly that, even in the most liberal estimates, no more than 10 percent of accusations are false. More likely that number is less than 5 percent.
