If you had told me Okafor would miss a significant amount of time because of foul trouble, I would have predicted Wisconsin would win by double digits. I think better defense and roster depth was huge for Duke.

Wisconsin makes a point of not giving away free throws. I think they fouled the least of any team in the country.

The flip side of that is they only half-heartedly contest shots around the hoop, which K and his players clearly knew.

My sports fandom has changed over the years. Fanboi'ism is gone. I love the poetry in the stories.

    * Grayson Allen answered MacGregor's question "Why sports?" C'mon. For a few minutes last night, little Grayson Allen morphed into the greatest college basketball player ever. You could have predicted 100 storylines and Grayson Allen wouldn't have been one of them. Grayson Allen. He looks like Shashavsky looked about 40 years ago.

    * And then, Okafor misses pretty much most of the second half yet comes back late and scores the 5 most important points of the game to give Duke breathing room. Kaminsky tries to hog-tie him and yet the kid busts free and flips up a prayer that goes in just because, And-1. Uh-huh, sure.

What can you say? It's Duke. It's always Duke. Duke wins titles.

As for Dekker, he's the best player in college but was off-kilter even despite a few acrobatics. I'd take him first overall, though D'Angelo Russell is top-pick worthy as well.

There is no poetry in the Grayson Allen story.

He was a McDonald's All-American. He was a slam dunk champion. He is an amazing athlete who happens to have the face of a 12 year old boy.

If he were on the other team, his high school achievements would make him the most decorated recruit in UW history.

Great performance, but it is really being overstated. This was not Rudy coming off the bench.

"Little Grayson Allen" is 6-4, 195 and has the biggest vertical jump on the team. He was a top-40 recruit and beat Jahlil Okafor in a dunk contest last year in high school. AND he wasn't the greatest college basketball player ever for a few minutes, he was the best player on his team for a few minutes.

You're doing that thing of assuming the white guy isn't talented.

No, I'm not doing that. I'm saying some freshman kid who wasn't part of the equation became the equation, and then some.

He averaged 9 minutes and 4 points this season.

Grayson Allen will be playing the part of George McFly in the upcoming Back To The Future Redux

5 field goals and 17 points in his 4 previous tourney games (38 minutes).

5 field goals and 16 points in 21 minutes last night.

What I do like about Grayson Allen is he now becomes a storyline for the next 3 years. There was an amusing tweet about "I Hate Grayson Allen" premiering in 2037.

He was a relied-upon reserve all season, playing more in some games than others. He had a really nice game. Surprisingly nice. His best game of the season at the perfect time.

But he has not been some invisible kid. He was a highly sought recruit.

I'm agreeing with all of that.

    And last night happened too.

He was a damn McDonald's All-American. He's not some diamond in the rough. He just didn't see as much time at the beginning of the year.
