    Breaking now.

    Automatic life without parole.

    Wow, I didn't think he'd get convicted.

I assumed 2nd degree murder, but wouldn't have been surprised at a not guilty. Guilty of 1st degree is a little surprising.

Hernandez wishes this guy was still around.

The longer the deliberations drew out, I was becoming convinced of the same.

His girlfriend did him no favors when she testified. It will be interesting to see if he's tried for the other murders to which he is allegedly connected.

Can they just drop the others given his current sentence of life without the possiblity of parole? Can they do it just to go for the death penalty?

Nevermind. No death penalty in Mass., apparently.

I believe a lot of these cases (trying for a murder after the suspect was given the death penalty for another murder) are symbolic. At least, I am not aware of any extra punishment

I think it's also in the event that the other conviction gets overturned on appeal.

I didn't follow the trial very closely, but I'll likely read up on it after the fact quite a bit.

Why didn't you guys think he would be convicted? Are you unconvinced that he did it?
