Caps-Isles Game 2 was as entertaining a game as I've seen in a while. Somehow, though, Grubauer got named first star. On a night he gave up three goals to a team that barely shot and a night where Backstrom had three points including a ridiculous goal.

The Caps are good enough this year to tease us into believing a decent run is possible. Which means it probably isn't.

We're only four days into this thing and it has been lights freakin' out entertaining. And Moddy, it's almost a rite of spring: the Capitals breaking your -- and others' -- hearts.

I guess minor miracles do happen. The Penguins were very sharp in their own end most of the night and Crosby stepped up with a big game.

No kidding. So much for the Pens being down and almost out. Truth is, except for the first period on Thursday, the Rangers haven't looked very good on offense in either of the first two games. Of course, Lundqvist should have been given an assist on Crosby's first goal. He all but teed it up for Sid.

It was just a bad game for the Rangers. Talentwise, speedwise, they are obviously better. But Pittsburgh is playing really conservative defensively to try to neutralize the speed advantage and the Rangers forechecking hasn't been that good. Then on the other end--especially yesterday--Pittsburgh is just playing hungrier. The Rangers didn't really have any stretches during the regular season where they were outworked. They were outworked yesterday. I think they had gotten so used to being able to headman the puck for a goal or two every game that they aren't adjusting to the intensity of playoff hockey. You can't just be the deeper team. You have to work your ass off.

That was a good formula for Pittsburgh yesterday -- keep the game as ugly as possible for as long as possible and hope that Sidney Crosby can be the difference. I'd be surprised if it wasn't a wake-up call for the Rangers and they don't come up with more intensity on Monday.

The entire 3rd period has been played in the Islanders end. And the Caps finally get the equalizer.

Screw hockey. Just screw it. I need a bottle of Fireball and to go hide my sharp objects.
    Fifteen damn seconds.
    Screw hockey.

A true picture of what it means to be a fan of the Washington Capitals. Ouch.
