Fair enough. I'm glad Lawrie didn't get hit and that no one is out for any length of time (assuming Escobar makes it back soon). I wish Herrera hadn't done that. I'm just seeing an awful lot of A's water carrying going on from the Jeff Passans of the world, who seem bound and determined to absolve the A's completely.

The umpires must not have thought Kazmir was throwing at Cain since they didn't eject him. He was pitching inside.

I get the Royals didn't like Lawrie's slide. Fine, so they drilled him. That should have ended it.

I will agree that no one else likes the royals. Basic jealousy.

They've been playing .667 ball since end of July, won all 8 games in the AL playoffs and damn near won the whole thing.

Then they read the experts saying they'll go 74-88 this year. Damn straight all these players have an edge.

They're going to have Taylor Swift throw out the first pitch.

Will she throw it at Salvi's feet and lead to both benches clearing?

If she throws it at Salvi's feet, he'll ground out to third.

Ryan Hanigan was having a tough day. Hard foul balls off his arm and hammy, hit by a pitch ... then hit by another pitch (mostly a grazing of his belt).

But finally came his turn after the second plunking when Pedroyer ripped one down the line and the ball hit the side cage and caromed back, allowing the fleet-a-foot catcher to score just under the tag.

His time is sparse, and his average makes Mendoza look like Piazza, but Hanigan made his time count today.

What place teams are in the third week of April = a non-argument if there ever was.
I understand a 5-3 record means a lot to Cub fans, but still.

Point being that not having Bryant in the lineup did not measurably hurt the Cubs unless you're expecting that he would have made them 8-0 instead of 5-3. It did not negatively affect the competitive integrity of the game as you suggested.
