Speaking of the Bears, they managed to have only one scheduled late afternoon game despite facing both the AFC West and NFC West.

Sadly, I'm kind of glad they are playing the Patriots while Bell will be out. I don't think they are winning at New England, anyway.

The schedule really is brutal. The only positive is one of their recent Super Bowl teams faced a similar schedule in terms of strength of the opposition. I think it was 2008. Of course, that was a much better team. I'm much more concerned about a defense that lost a key pass rusher and did nothing to address its awful secondary in free agency than I am about the schedule.

Just saw the Chargers sked, and one unusual aspect is that the first six games are against either an AFC North or NFC North opponent.

And the Eagles are playing the 12:30 game with the Lions.

Between Tebow, the Cowboys, and Favre, that explosion sound we hear from Bristol is a collective ejaculation.

I'll never complain about a good group of games on Thanksgiving. It seems like most times I've seen a jersey or number retired it's the home opener, but it will definitely create a huge prime time game for NBC.

I wish there was a Christmas game. They have games on the 24th and the 26th though.

    Eagles' schedule is weird, man.
They open on a Monday night and play three of the first four on the road because of Pope Francis' visit to Philly in late September.
Then they go 34 days in October and November without playing a Sunday afternoon game. They play on Monday night, Sunday night, bye week, and then another Sunday nighter.
Then there's the Thanksgiving game, and three of the last four at home against some potentially awful teams (Bills, Cardinals, Redskins and at the Giants to finish; at least two of those could be picking in the top 10 of the draft next year).
They also get the AFC East and NFC South. So in a year they could have conceivably taken advantage of a soft schedule to make a leap and win the division, Chip Kelly decided to blow up the roster.
    Tebow save us.

I didn't know they also had the world's second-most-influential Christian coming to town.

  9. Yeah, their chances of winning in New England: slim to none.
With the back half of that schedule, They need to go 7-1, 6-2 out of the gate to have a shot at the playoffs.
    They still look like a 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 team.

So only six Hall of Famers on defense then?

I don't see that team starting 6-2 or 7-1, especially if the full suspension for Bell is held up. Maybe they get lucky and the draft picks can make an impact on defense, but that is a lot to ask.

The Niners open as the late Monday night game and then have to go to Pittsburgh for Week 2. Short week and an east coast trip.

Not that they weren't already fucked, but you look at that schedule and it's going to be a 4-6 win season.
