Who were you defying? If memory serves, there was not an outpouring of support for the Ligues among White Sox fans.

I don't know if they still have half-price Mondays - I almost exclusively go to Sunday day games now. But it used to be terrific. In the seventh or eighth inning - you could pretty much set your clock to it - we'd all get a huge kick out of it from the press box as the brawls started in the upper deck, usually in left field down the line, for some reason.

Last year, I finally returned for a night game with my family. Sat out in the left field bleachers on a Saturday night. Royals in town. In the eighth, I think, a beer goes flying from our row, 15 rows ahead of us, smack into the back of some guy's head. Next thing you know, it's an all-out group brawl on the stairs.

Defying the world, Dick. Defying the world.

Based on your stories, I need to get back there. That sounds incredibly entertaining. Shame I live in Virginia.

That's the thing, he's so goddamn strong. He toyed with the Hose for the first 2 innings last night -- darted heaters down the middle, challenged 'em, and they swung hard and missed. And he works the corners as well as anyone.

It all changed in the 3rd on the play he had to cover first when he stepped short by a gouty toe and the runner was safe, then their legs collided and he ended up eating dirt. He lost his mojo after that.

It only takes the smallest thing to throw him off. Too bad too because his stuff is Gooden-good.

I've never noticed a fight at the Cell in the 15 or so games I've attended. It's really a nice place to watch a game -- as long as you're not in the upper deck.

I don't know if they still do half-price Mondays, but, again, that was the night for it.

Keep in mind that the Saturday night game was Paul Konerko Night last fall. So it was a jam-packed house to begin with. Plus the start of the game was delayed like an hour for ceremonies. The start of drinking, however, was not.

The fan deck seats out in CF used to be first-come, first-served. That was always our go-to spot after buying cheap lower-level tickets.

Ryan Lefebvre, one of the nicest gentlemen you will ever meet, took his employing team to task on the postgame show last night all the while looking and sounding demoralized. Kudos to Hosmer, too, for saying the team has to take control of itself.

I agree with what Big Circus stated earlier. Ventura has to mature and learn to ignore the b.s. from other teams.

I think it was Hack mentioned Moustakas being hit high. I don't know if Sale intended it or not but it was scary for a moment. Looked to me like Moustakas took most of the pitch in the shoulder and the ball then caromed off his chin. He was on the ground motionless for a few seconds.

Seems like some of the veterans in the Royals clubhouse needs to pull Ventura aside and lay down the law. Eventually this is going to lead to someone on their side getting hurt, or hurt the team through a bunch of suspensions.
Ventura is the drunk friend you hate going out with because he always ends up getting into a fight.

Exactly. He's the "likes to fight guy" that everyone gets tired of being around, or they will sit back and watch him get his ass kicked a couple of times to send the message.

If the Royals wanted to end all this, they would take it into their own hands, suspend him for a week or two and let it all die down. As is, the approach of having Yost talk to him is working about as well as you'd expect it to.

Ventura is the Pascual Perez of his generation, though he's probably a better driver and isn't addicted to cocaine as far as we know.
