I hate the Cardinals probably more than any other team in pro sports, but I hate even more to see a top pitcher lose a season to such a shitty injury. I've seen three Achilles' tears in the last four months and they are such freak occurrences happening to top athletes. But they all seem to have one thing in common -- the guy put his foot behind him a bit and then pushed off.

Hate to see it happen to Wainwright, who seems like a decent guy. Less sympathy for the Cardinals. They have some pitching depth, but still a huge drop in terms of production from his replacement. I've already seen some speculation that this might revive trade talks for Cole Hamels.

The most disappointing thing about the start of this season so far, to me, is the mediocrity of the Nationals. Granted, it's April. But I was hoping to see that team race to 100-plus wins. Rendon needs to come back and so forth. And, again, it's April. But I want to see them turn it on already.

I love the Cardinals more than any other team in pro sports, so this is a kick in the balls. But, almost as bad is the embarrassing Twitter nonsense from the fanbase calling for the DH in the National League as a result of this. Would the outcry be there if Clayton Kershaw was the one limping off? Doubt it. As a fanbase we've earned our lousy reputation.

Hopefully this can put a temporary stop to oldsters bitching and moaning every time a player doesn't emulate Usain Bolt on a groundout to second base.

Oh, come on. So now every player who doesn't run hard has a built in excuse?

The Cardinals will bring up a 22-year-old no one has heard of. Said 22-year-old will proceed to pitch better than any starter on the Brewers' staff.

Also, Heyward just left with some kind of injury chasing a ball in the right-field corner. They lost Molina on Friday night, Wainwright last night and Heyward today. I'm guessing they can't wait to get out of Milwaukee, while most teams can't wait to get there.

You are better than this reply.

    No, not "every player."

The ones who tap the ball back to the pitcher, for one example?

    Yes.

Actually, if he had actually run it out instead of standing in the box, then putting his foot behind him and pushing off, he wouldn't have suffered the injury.

Or he might have hurt himself when he threw his next pitch.
Or when he chased a bunt. Or ran to back up a throw to the plate. Or stepping out of the dugout between innings.
If your Achilles is going to go, it's going to go sooner or later. There's really nothing you can do about it.

So what do you guys think Gordon gets? Four games? Five? (KIDDING.)

A response to Moose getting hit again, I'm sure.
